As I looked through the old galleries to flag portfolio picks for the new photography website, I could feel something missing. There were countless smiling faces, kissing and intimate moments, and hand-holding galore. The “engagement session formula” had been followed to a T and my clients were all beyond thrilled with their images.
So…why did I feel like I could do better for them? What had I even missed?!
Meditating on it for a bit, I finally identified the elusive “IT” factor. That mysterious element that had been nagging at my heart. The answer materialized in my head, clear as day…
Engagement sessions are not meant to be static and posed with forced smiles and tourist landmarks. They should showcase the couple authentically. With movement and action and breathless laughter. That’s real love.
And love is the grandest adventure of them all. 🙂
Nellie and Gary had the first engagement session after this mini-revelation and it’s so incredibly apparent that this is IT. The way it should be from now on. From the sun dappled forest to the soaring cliffs and crashing waves; we visited their favorite places, threw caution to the wind and played.
This collection of images makes my heart sing and I hope it does yours as well… Enjoy!
