We came, we taught, we turned Boston tropical for a day!
Teaming up with some major boss babes and teaching a workshop has been on my wishlist for the past couple of years. I tried to put something together a couple times but it kept falling through. Something wasn’t lining up correctly and I’m confident it was the universe whispering, “not yet”.
Teaming up with another photographer was a total A-Ha moment and I set out to find someone whose strengths complement my weaknesses (hello, finances). Considering I had received wonderful advice from Emily @ Emily Tebbetts Photography in the not-so-distant past, she was the perfect person to *hopefully* get on the team.
So, I took a deep breath and wrote her an email. Not fully expecting her to say “yes” but hopeful.
Her enthusiasm for the project right off the bat blew me away and I just knew we were on the right track! Once we added wedding planner Kelly Golia Events and lifestyle blogger By Gabriella to the team, we were good to go and The Flourish Workshop was born!
We gathered early in the morning the day of to work on finishing touches and nosh on the tastiest bagels (Bagelsaurus: YUM) while we awaited our attendees’ arrival. Once we got going, the day rolled on effortlessly and information flew around with abandon. I sat and listened intently as Gabi, Emily, and Kelly presented their segments, soaking up all the knowledge that they shared. It was amazing.
When it was my turn to take the floor, I felt most comfortable during the shooting portion. Working with a newer model, our attendees got to see firsthand how I get subjects to warm up, feel natural, and start to create the authentic rapport that makes such a difference in the final image. I made quick adjustments to the set, gave the model feedback, and answered all questions as they came up.
It was truly wonderful to see our students engaged; helping each other and directing the model with confidence! I had so much fun with this group and cannot wait to host more of these in the future!
